Hazelwood House

Hazelwood House is an 18th Century palladian style house of architectural significance which has fallen into disrepair. However, the current owner has plans to develop a Visitor Centre and Distillery here in the near future. Nearby Hazelwood Forest and Lakeside Walk offers beautfiul views of Lough Gill.
The house was built in the 1920s by Richard Cassels who went on to design Leinster House, currently the home of the Irish Dáil, or government. He designed some of Ireland’s most prominent buildings, including Westport House, Powerscourt House and Russborough.
